24 Sep 2019 7:46 AM | Anonymous

Mick Gentleman, M.L.A. A.C.T. Minister for Advanced Technology and Space Industries, launched the AIDN ACT commissioned Defence Services Industry Economic Contribution Study in Canberra yesterday. The report highlights material benefits of the Defence services industry in the A.C.T region.

The study found that the Defence services industry has a significant economic footprint in both the national and Australian Capital Territory (ACT) economies, contributing around $7.8 billion in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to the national economy per annum and supporting approximately 57,530 jobs. In the ACT, the Defence services industry contributes about $854 million to Gross State Product (GSP) and supports about 5,900 jobs (around one in every 39 jobs), making it one of the more substantial contributors to the state’s total employment, and important to the prosperity of the local economy.
